Louise and Roger Turner opened Lulu's in 1989. Lulu's wasn't the first choice for a name, but friends convinced Louise that the name was a good one... and they were right!
In September of 1999, Kim Anthony and Laura McBane purchased Lulu's from the Turners. Both worked at Lulu's at the time. Kim started working at Lulu's in 1992 as a dishwasher, and Laura in 1993 as a server.
Fourteen years later, in September of 2013, to quote the local paper, "Sylva's beloved Lulu's changes hands," for the third time.
The McCardle Family now has Lulu's in their care. Our staff has changed some, but not completely.....Executive Chef Devin McCardle, assisted by the likes of Erica Sharrett and Justin Wall, have accepted the same challenge...fantastic out-of-the-ordinary eclectic fare, great service, consistently provided in an edgy, retro atmosphere.
We love what we do and hope it rubs off!
